Managing events

GoodMetrics automatically records every custom event that fires on your site. Once an event is triggered for the first time, it appears in the Manage Events list — no manual setup required.

From here, you can view all recorded events and block any event names you don't want showing up in your reports.

Viewing recorded events

  1. Go to your site settings and click Manage Events.
  2. The All Events panel on the left shows every custom event that has been recorded for your site.

For details on how to set up custom events, see Creating custom events.

Blocking events

Blocking an event name prevents future instances of that event from appearing in your reports. Previously recorded data for that event is not affected. This is useful for filtering out test events, deprecated events, or event names you don't want cluttering your dashboard.

There are two ways to block an event:

  1. From the All Events list — click Block next to any recorded event to add it to your blocked list.
  2. Preemptively — in the Blocked Events panel on the right, type an event name and submit it. This lets you block an event before it's ever recorded, so it never appears in your reports.

Blocked events are listed in the Blocked Events panel with a count of how many are currently blocked.

Unblocking events

To restore a blocked event to your reports, click Unblock next to it in the Blocked Events panel. The event will start appearing in your reports again.

Permissions

Only organization admins can block or unblock events. Users with view-only access can see the list of recorded and blocked events but cannot make changes.
