How does cookieless tracking work in GoodMetrics?
GoodMetrics tracks visitors without using cookies, localStorage, or any persistent identifiers. Instead, we generate an anonymized hash from limited browser metadata (like device type, OS, and browser). Data is processed in real time, and IP addresses are discarded immediately.
Because we don't use persistent identifiers, returning visitors are only recognized if their anonymized signature stays the same — a deliberate tradeoff for stronger privacy.
For a full breakdown of how it works, what we collect, and how sessions are measured, see our Cookieless Tracking page.
