Does GoodMetrics filter out bot traffic?
GoodMetrics automatically filters out known bots, scrapers, and non-human traffic to keep your reports clean and accurate.
While no analytics tool can remove 100% of bot activity, we use several layers of protection to ensure that obvious automated traffic never appears in your dashboard.
We block known bots and crawlers
GoodMetrics maintains an updated list of well-known bots and crawlers based on user-agent detection. This includes search engine crawlers (like Googlebot), social previews, link expanders, uptime checkers, and other automated services that should never count as real visits.
These requests are blocked before they ever reach your reports.
We exclude traffic from known data centers
Many scrapers and automated tools run from cloud providers such as AWS and DigitalOcean. GoodMetrics automatically excludes traffic from data center IP ranges that are commonly used for scraping.
This helps prevent large bursts of fake traffic from ever showing up as real users.
We detect automated patterns and abnormal behavior
In addition to user-agent and IP-based filtering, GoodMetrics also checks for behavioral patterns that indicate scripted or automated traffic. These are activities that no real human visitor would perform.
When this kind of pattern is detected, GoodMetrics automatically suppresses the activity so it does not appear in your reports. If the behavior becomes especially extreme, we will also block the offending IP altogether to prevent any future requests from ever making it into your reports.
